I'm interested in using the "External Functions" hook into Mathematica described in Appendix B.7.6 of the book (pg 585). I'm working on a NeXT under NeXT release 0.9. I found the necessary 'mathlink' modules and have compiled the example in the Appendix. What I don't know is how to get this executable and Mathematica communicating. EG, what do I type in Mathematica to set this up? Does my new executable need to be in a magic directory? Any clarification would be appreciated. Glenn P.
