Eigenvalues

Hi.  I wonder if anyone has experienced trouble with the eigenvalue solver,
	Eigenvalues[matrix]
         ?
I have an 18 by 18 matrix.  When diagonalized by a well-tested Fortran program
it yields a set of eigenvalues radically different from those I get in the
mathematica code.
