Alright, TeX via dvips can produce ps code from TeX.

The front end on the NeXT can render ps directly in a shell.

So I want to imbed TeX ps into a notebook (portability
considerations aside).

I tried taking a one-line formula, running it through
dvips, saved the ps file, imported the ps file into
a cell, selected via the sytles inspector "formatted"
and formatter "postscript". Zilch happened and my
ps code for the formula disappeared.

Has anybody tried this?
