algebraic numbers?

Has anyone written a package for working in algebraic number fields? For
example, something that can handle adjoining an n-th and a p-th roots of
unity (where n and p are relatively prime integers)? I assume this isn't
hard to do, but I was hoping someone has it ready-made...
