I have a package, intended as a Mathematica program sample for engineering
students taking a strength of materials course, which accepts as input
    [1] Concentrates loads
[2] Linearly varying or constant distributed loads
[3] Rigid in-span support locations, boundary conditions, length and EI

and produces as output
[1] A picture of the beam and the loads on it
[2] Deflection, slope, bending moment, and shear force diagrams

I will e-mail the package (IBM RS 6000 Unix) to anyone who would like
to try it out.
