Mma on nonFPU Mac?

Does anyone have experience running Mma on the newer Macs that
do _not_ have an FPU, say the base Quadra 610 or Quadra 605 or
the non-FPU powerbooks?

Will they run the "enhanced" version of Mma by emulating the
FPU or must one use only the "standard" version? Comments?

Even if Mma runs, is the performance so dreadful it isn't worth
doing? I normally use a Centris 650 after moving up from the SE/30,
so those are my standards.

Thanks for the help.
