Ian Collier at wri suggested that X Front Ends built in Dec. 1994
should be used to correct crashes in the front end upon certain
key strokes. We recently upgraded all of our versions of Mathematica
when our site license came up for renewal. The front end that came
with the upgrade apparently has a bug which causes it to abort in
certain cases when a carrage return is inserted in existing cells.
This occurs on both Sparcs and SGIs.

It doesn't seem to matter what the kernal is doing because once the
frontend crashes, the abort can be reproduced by merely reopening the
notebook and inserting the carrage return in the appropriate cell.
The kernal is never started.

Has anyone else had trouble with the frontend distributed with the
Sparc or SGI version 2.2.3 of mathematica?
