Dear Mathgroupers-

Is there a package available which performs variational derivatives and
will return the boundary terms as well as the Euler equation. VariationalD
in VariationalMethods package only returns the Euler equation. Ideally I'd
like to write the expression for the strain energy of a body, perform the
integrals that can be performed, take the first variation of this integral,
integrate by parts and return this expression containing both integrals and
boundary terms. The problems I've encountered so far are MMA tries to
integrate an unintegrable expression at each step. This cripples MMA and
I'd like to avoid this evaluation until I call for it. Integrating by
parts is also a hurdle to be cleared, but less daunting than the first. If
anyone has addressed any of these subproblems or the larger problem, I'd
like to hear from you.

   Thanks in advance,
   Daryl
