Dear Mathgrouper,
let have a convex hull, K, and let define the diameter, D(K), as the
greatest distance between any two points of K and the breadth, b(K), as the
least distance
between every pair of parallel straight lines enclosing K.

Suggestions about how to calculate them with Mathematica or references
about the suitable algorithms are welcomed.
