Optica has a predecessor called lenslab, written by the same person.
Lanslab can be gotten from Wolfram's MathSource web page. Lenslab is of
the same
general design, but much less comprehensive than Optica. I have Optica
and have read the manual, but havent as yet used it for anything. My
impression is that one must understand Optica fairly well to use it,
and one must be suspicious of it's results. The manual had a number
of examples of grossly erroneous results until one turned this or that
arcane control on.
