MMA List Output Query

Good evening all,

Getting to the point.

I'm running some simulations, by cannibilising / calling some 3rd party
packages, and "streaming" the output to a text file.....nothing fancy.
The file then contains lists in the following form:

{1000.*Null, 1405.957761695439*Null, 1708.435324955003*Null,
  2243.959625495902*Null, 3144.516641311864*Null}

Obviously I'd prefer the "*Null" to disappear!
Not having written all the code being used I can't add too much more....and
i'm not sure I know what to look for in the code of the packages I'm using. 
I can import into Excel, and write a macro to strip the offending
characters, however I'd much rather understand what's causing the problem. 

Any suggestions and recommendations on a book to consult about using mma for
simulations specifically is greatly appreciated.
