I have been told that the student version is nearly a full function version,
except that it does not allow the use of a remote computer for doing all of
the calculations while the local computer only handles the graphics.

Aside from that, the student version dosn't allow you full access to the tech
support department and various other perks. Which means that you usually have
to correspond with them by E-mail.

In practice, I have found their tech-support to be excellent. Well
informed and prompt. Every time I have had a problem, they have responded
within a couple of days. They even shipped me an upgrade to version 2.2.4 at
no personal cost.

Hope this helps,

Todd Moore
