I have a very silly problem with Mathematica on my Mac. When its time
for the kernel to start, it insists on dialing out on my modem. The only
way to prevent this is to restart with the Mac PPP extension disabled.
Half-measures usually lock up the system.

Details: the machine is a Quadra 750, running Mac OS 7.5. Mathematica is
revision 2.2. I run with many extensions enabled, but the relevant one seems
to be Mac PPP, (c) Merit Network, Inc.

Should I live with this strange behavior of my system, upgrade Mac PPP, or what?
Replies either to these groups or e-mail will be appreciated. If I get a lot
of e-mail I will summarize.

Thanks in advance,
Chris Henrich
