HDF is the Hierarchical Data Format promulgated by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications in Urbana, Illinois, USA. It is a portable and binary file format that can contain many different data types. MathHDF V1.3 currently supports only the SDS (Scientific Data Set) data type.
