Bob,

I believe this change from 3.0 to 3.0.1 was intentional. I for one am
relieved that they made this change. Previously if you wanted to work in a
maximized notebook you lost access to all menu items. You would have to
"restore", use the menu, and then re"maximize". Unfortunately now it seems
that the "Restore" operation is inoperative... Oh well, I think it is still
an improvement. But I wonder what is wrong with the conventional window
arrangement where the file windows are inside the application window (as in
v2.2). That arrangement allows me to avoid the long menu bar, and to
control where the application opens on the screen. Right now when I open a
notebook it obscures all my desktop icons. I miss the old style (but not
much else from 2.2)!
