TeX to Mathematica conversion?

Is there a way to convert a TeX expression into the equivalent Mathematica format? I heard S. Wolfram in a talk a couple of years ago saying that they used some program to convert the old Mathematica book (which was written in TeX) to the Notebook format and then edited it in order to generate the new version of the book.
