Dear MathGroup I'm happy to annonce the new version 1.2 of my OpenGL based viewer for Mathematica's 3d graphics. The viewer program runs under MS-Windows and Unix. Compiled binaries for MS-Windows, SPARC/Solaris and Linux are included. ********************************* *The program is free software ! * ********************************* The Unix archive comes with the complete source code. User with a native OpenGL hardware support can compile the program. The unix version uses Brian Paul's free MesaGL library and GLUT 3.6. New features in the 1.2 version are: - graphical viewpoint and light source editing - import of DXF files into the program as well as into Mathematica - smooth shaded, resolution independent PostScript output - snap shoots of the render window can be saved as PNG bitmaps - the contents of the render window can pasted into Mathematica notebooks - improved support for surface colors in the render window and in the POVRay export option - reading and writing of Geomviews OFF files - bug fixes in the free spining and rotation of objects - bug fix in the light calculation - the MS-Windows version come with a setup program - the manual with examples where extended to document the new features Until the update is on MathSource You can see a feature list, screen shots and a picture gallery from my homepage http://www.mpae.gwdg.de/~kuska if You select the MathGL3d link. You can download the self extracting executable with the setup program for MS-Windows and the unix archive from that location as well. I hope that the program has not so many bugs, but if anyone finds a bug mail me with "MATHGL3D BUG" as subject. Enjoy the program Jens
