Batch Input and Output

Hello, I am having problems saving the {input, output, message} lines
from a  batch run of Mathematica.  I have a text file of Mathematica
commands that I would like to read into the kernal (either while the
kernal is open and active or from a DOS prompt within Win95) and have
the input, output, and messages  all saved to an output or log file. 
Is there an easy way to do this?  Thank you in
advance for any suggestions.
