Self-extracting executables are binaries that will function only on one specific platform. Macintosh .sea files will not run under Unix, NeXT, and Windows. Windows self extracting archive .exe files won't run on Macintosh, Unix, and NeXT. Unix shell archives won't run on Macintosh and Windows. -- P.J.
