Together and Simplify

Could anybody explain  me different characteristics about the internal
implementations of these functions:

	Together[exp]
	Simplify[exp]

Or where could I found information about it? 

For example I have observed that Together[func] is much  faster if func
is a factorized expression than if not. Why??
