OneIdentity and x__ patterns

Hi everybody!

Thank you for making me understand that Plus[x__] is the same as x__

Just a question: have the Mathematica designers ever considered
excluding the multiple blank patterns (x__ and x___) from the
OneIdentity action? After all, these patterns are single expressions
but stand for more possible arguments.
