Hi Carl,

no BMP-format. BMP is uncompressed and needs a lot of diskspace. You can
get my PNGBitmap package that reads and writes Portable Network
Graphics Bitmaps. The most image procesing programs can deal with PNG
files
like PhotoPaint, PicturePublisher, PhotoImpact, PaintShop Pro, ...

You can get the package form MathSource or from my www-page
http://www.mpae.gwdg.de/~kuska/mcpng.html

Binaries for MS-Windows, Linux and Solaris are included.

The PNG format uses the lossless compression from the zip-lib.

Regards
  Jens
