Michael, Jeff ! The heading you use for mails concerning this issue are pure nonsense!! Of course this equation is true, sometimes; especially if n is natural, as the subject heading suggests by using the "n". And of course it can be false e.g. if n is a rational number (better suggested by a "q"), depending on definition. So this is a case of knowing what you are meaning when trying to say what you mean!!
