Gianluca,

I have been using Mathematica 3.0.1 and Mac OS 8.5 for a few weeks now,
and haven't had any _serious_ problems. The Appearance extension
problem is gone, or at least far more benign. I have experienced some
type-rendering strangeness, but that may be related to some known
issues with Adobe Type Manager 4.0.2. (I stubbornly stick to Postscript
fonts.)

Also, the annoyance of delayed evaluation with AppleTalk active still
remains.

Thanks for bringing up this topic.

Cheers,
   Selwyn
