Hi Peter, this will not help you. I assume that ghostview drop some initial code located on page 1 when it selects the even pages. Somewehre on page 1 must be a statement that the fonts are iso-latin encoded instead of adobe standard (that hat not all umlauts). ghostview removed this statment and your printer uses the standard font encoding.
