Hi Mark,

it is not a good idea to use Computer Modern.

You can do it with :
a) you need the Adobe Type manager and the *.pfm files to install
   the fonts with the ATM. Y&Y TeX comes with PostScript versions of
   the fonts and with the ATM
b) you may get TrueType fonts for TeX with an other commercial TeX
version
   like PCTeX. Installing all the TeX fonts in a Windows System
   will slow down the machine

The main problem tis that both types of fonts are in the original
encoding of TeX OT1, OTMX, ...
The fonts are 7 bit fonts and the ASCII codes < 10 are occupied by
characters. This and the unknown Endocding (for Windows) 
will make the fonts nearly unusabel for you. Especial the capital
greek letters are on the first positions of the font with ASCII codes
that correspond to tab's, del, backspace ...
