brackets are shown wrong_

I have just installed Mathematica 3.0 under WindowsNT 4.0. Instead of
showing the following brackets: []{}(), it shows @DB<HL, it seems that
it has to do with the way Matematica handels the levels of brackets.
I would like to get to see the real brackets, so please help me!
