Atul,

Without knowing how they implement Power for integer and non-integer powers, 
I would guess that the answer is related to

(-5.2)^1208. == Exp[1208. * Log[-5.2]]

True

(-5.2)^1208 == (Times @@ Table[-5.2, {1208}])

True
