Hello again MathGroup:

I had noted concern with the failure of the characters to rotate on Macintosh.

Several individuals called my attention to the fact that this had been
recently discussed, albeit under somewhat different header.

>The problem is that the MacOS API does not support native text rotation.

I would call to folks' attention that for purposes of printing or
exporting, the characters seem to do just fine. Export a graph "copy as
pict with embedded post script" and paste into whatever. Characters are
still unrotated on the screen, but the figure prints fine.

To see it looking fine on the screen, print to a pdf file. I was
unsuccessful printing it to an eps.

I don't wish to ignite a flame war, especially as Mathematica is still supporting
the mac, but I am somewhat disappointed in an attitude that says that since
an OS doesnt support thus and such, we wont do what is required to make our
application on an OS that we sell the application for. I would point out
that virtually all apps that run on the mac support rotated characters.

I would also point out that for the purpose of, say, demonstrating a
notebook from a projector to a screen, or using it at a poster session, the
unrotated characters do not speak well for the application, which is
otherwise so powerful.
