I beg to differ. I'm a fairly technically oriented person (MSc in
Theoretical Physics, another MSc in Astrophysics, and currently
working on a PhD in Computer Science), but I still prefer to use a
Mac rather than any other computer, and it's not because "I don't
have to use the keyboard". In fact, I prefer to use the keyboard. I
*have* left my Mac running a Mathematica computation for several days
and, no, it hasn't crashed. At most, it ran out of memory, which was
due primarily to my occasionally careless programming practice in
Mathematica.

I'm sorry, but I cannot believe that people with the kind of
time-table which DTP professionals are subject to would stick to a
computer, ANY computer, for ANY length of time, if they had to reboot
the machine after EVERY PICTURE. Exageration is not going to win you
any argument.

Clearly you don't use a Mac, so how can you say with such vehemence
that it breaks down every single day?

>If you're a Mac user, I bet you never changed the oil or a flat
>tire on your car yourself, did you?

And the connection there is??? I think this is just another example
of prejudice. I can be prejudiced too... if you're a UNIX (or one of
its variants) user, I bet you don't know how to create a drawing on
your computer yourself and you have to ask a professional house to do
it even for simple pictures. So what?, I ask.

And not ever using a Mac for any extended period of time makes you
unqualified to make statements about its performance, reliability,
etc. In particular, it makes you unqualified to use such superlatives
as "EVERY SINGLE DAY" when talking about it.
