SequenceForm, StringForm, StyleForm are "wrappers" that affect the
formatting of output for display. They are not processed within a
calculation.  You need another construction, such as

filename = StringJoin["test", ToString[i], ".asc"], or, equivalently
filename = "test" <> ToString[i] <> ".asc"
