I'm afraid this is not a direct answer to your question but ... if you type Options[SurfaceOfRevolution] after you have loaded the package, you will get a list of all the options that the function can take. I cannot see any that turn off the grid and leave the surface-shading, which is what I presume you want. The options with their default values are-- {RevolutionAxis -> {0, 0, 1}, AmbientLight -> GrayLevel[0.], AspectRatio -> Automatic, Axes -> True, AxesEdge -> Automatic, AxesLabel -> None, AxesStyle -> Automatic, Background -> Automatic, Boxed -> True, BoxRatios -> Automatic, BoxStyle -> Automatic, ColorOutput -> Automatic, Compiled -> True, DefaultColor -> Automatic, Epilog -> {}, FaceGrids -> None, ImageSize -> Automatic, Lighting -> True, LightSources -> {{{1., 0., 1.}, RGBColor[1, 0, 0]}, {{1., 1., 1.}, RGBColor[0, 1, 0]}, {{0., 1., 1.}, RGBColor[0, 0, 1]}}, Plot3Matrix -> Automatic, PlotLabel -> None, PlotPoints -> Automatic, PlotRange -> Automatic, PlotRegion -> Automatic, PolygonIntersections -> True, Prolog -> {}, RenderAll -> True, Shading -> True, SphericalRegion -> False, Ticks -> Automatic, ViewCenter -> Automatic, ViewPoint -> {1.3, -2.4, 2.}, ViewVertical -> {0., 0., 1.}, DefaultFont :> $DefaultFont, DisplayFunction :> $DisplayFunction, FormatType :> $FormatType, TextStyle :> $TextStyle} -- Mark R Diamond Vision Research Laboratory The University of Western Australia no spam email: markd at psy dot uwa dot edu dot au
