Tried again:  W98, Mathematica 4.0.0.0

Integrate[1/z, {z, 1 - I,
   1 + I, -1 + I, -1 - I,
   1 - I}]

0

However:

Chop[NIntegrate[1/z,
   {z, 1 - I, 1 + I, -1 + I,
    -1 - I, 1 - I}]]

6.283185307179571*I
