Try the following:

In[1]:=
Plot[{Sin[x], Sin[2*x]}, {x, -2 Pi, 2 Pi},
  Epilog -> {Text["Curve1", {4.5, 0.6}, {-1, 0}],
      Text["Curve2", {2, 0.95}, {-1, 0}]}];

The coordinates you can obtain by clicking on the plot, and then, while
holding down the Control key, move your cursor around inside the plot. The
coordinates will appear in the left-hand side, lower part of the notebook
window.
