Raul, I think the answer is: because that's the way it is. Mathematica just formats the limits on the sum and product symbols differently in Inline cells than in Input cells. I think that WRI probably decided that Inline cells were probably already too cramped to put the limits above and below the symbol. I don't think there is anything you can do about it.
