I am running Mathematica 4.1 on my linux (RedHat 7.1) computer.
I can start Mathematica session with no problem as a root
but after turning on my computer and typing mathematica as
an ordinary user I get a new mashine ID number ( different than that
of the root).
To get around this problem I usually open a new xterm and enter math
as a root. Then I close the math session and logout as root from
the x-terminal. Only now I can open mathematica as a ordinary user
without Mathematica generating a new mahine ID number and without
asking for a new password.

I is there a way to fix this so that I can open Mathematica
as a user directly whenever I turn on my computer?
Otherwise, after mamy times this problem becomes a bit annoying.
