dear all, ever since upgrading to X 4.0.* (debian linux), i see the following message on startup: the mathematica fonts are not properly installed in your system. without these fonts, typeset mathematical expressions cannot be displayed properly. i don't use Mathematica a lot, so i've been living this way for quite a while. but when i do use Mathematica, it's usually pretty important (for my research). i've grown tired of living like this, so i'm asking for help. AFAIK, the font system works well for X. i've installed a true type font server, and all the programs that can make use of TT fonts "sees" the installed fonts. tex works well. even Mathematica used to work well before the upgrade. i'm sufficiently unfamiliar enough with Mathematica to not know even where to begin diagnosing what exactly is going on. i searched the mathgroup archives and the wolfram research site. no dice. can someone help me fix this problem? i'm using Mathematica 4.0.1.0. btw, i took a look at the enhancements for 4.1. very cool! the upgrade is $79, and i'm thinking of doing it. before i do, i'd like to know if there's a new version (4.2?) which going to come out soon. thank you! pete -- "Coffee...
