Mac 4.0.2.1 front end (PB G3, OS 8.6)

Open the Printing Settings/Headers and Footers dialog box., move into 
one of the text windows.

1)  Press shift key, drag across text; text IS selected.

2)  Put cursor at one point in text; move pointer to another point, 
press shift key while clicking mouse:  text between the two points IS 
selected.

3)  Put cursor at any point in text, hold shift key, press left or right 
arrow keys:  cursor moves, but text it moves over IS NOT selected.

(Note:  If you do the same things in a regular Mathematica cell, the text the 
cursor moves over IS selected in all three cases.)
