has anyone else noticed that mathematica (V4) has some bugs in its front end
(win Me && win XP pro). When using it as a text editor (in text style,
notepad style sheet) to take notes in math class, a number of glitches often
occur. (besides the woeful lack of real undo functionality). often, when I
am writing (at the end of the notebook), especially when I use sub/super
scripts and stuff that causes mathematica to mark it as a formula rather
then text, it scrolls up a page or so. I can still type blind at the if I
want to(the insertion point is unchanged). If I scroll back down, next time
I press a character it just jumps back up again.
Also, when I copy some formula's (particularly summations I've noticed), and
paste them later, it sometimes prints out an extra 'dummy' copy. editing
one edits the other. mathematica tends to be more likely to crash after
this. closing and reopening (after saving) fixes this, but that is not
really a viable option to be continuously doing this while trying to take
notes.

so has anyone else noticed these 'features'? Anyone have suggestions on how
to fix them? I reinstalled mathematica after doing a clean install of win
xp pro, and it has not helped.

thanks.
