Re: Virus Warning for email by Tomas Garza

I got a message yesterday from an unknown source. It had no text in it and
my antivirus detected and neutralized a virus in the attachment
(W32/BadTrans@MM ) , so I received no harm. However, apparently what it did
was to take all addresses in my address book and send a copy of itself to
each of them with my name as sender. I was unaware of the problem until I
started receiving phone calls from people who had received the message and
assumed I had sent it. I'm awfully sorry for the inconvenience, and I only
hope everybody concerned has a competent antivirus system installed.

[Tomas is not the only member of the mailing list that is having this
problem. I urge you all to watch out for attachments and virues and
if you can avoid using the software that is vulnerable to viruses, do that.
Mail from the MathGroup never contains attachments. I do not accept mail
with attachments and do not use Microsoft products. --- moderator]
