I am using Mathematica 4.2.0 on Mac OS 10.2.1. I do not have the problem and I copy and paste groups of cells frequently. I just tried selecting a group and pasting to a new notebook without incident. Copying discontinuous groups with command-click works as well. I have noticed one degradation of the cell copying mechanism from 4.1 to 4.2. If I copy a cell, switch to another program for a while, switch back to Mathematica and paste the clipboard has lost styling characteristics such as font color. When I grade student notebooks this is a great pain.
