Phil, try this using rules mylist = {{1, 2, 3, 4}, {5, 6, 7, 8}, {9, 10, 11, 12}}; In[2]:=mylist /. {x__Integer, y_Integer} -> {x, y, y, y} /. {x__, y_} -> {x, y, y, y} Out[2]={{1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4}, {5, 6, 7, 8, 8, 8}, {9, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12}, {9, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12}, {9, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12}} Cheers, Brian "Philip M.
