Exporting Graphics

When i use Export to save a Graphics as a .gif, .jpg or .bmp, the Text in the resulting image appears changed in type and in size (this not happen saving as .eps or .pdf). How can i avoid this? P.S.: with Mathematica 4.0 under Win98. Thanks, Raf.
