Further to my earlier posting in this thread. To futher complicate the
story: the cell option ImageRegion defines rectangle relative to the
bounding box and the graphics option  PlotRegion defines a rectangle
relative to this. The latter rectangle (default the image box) is actually
that in which the plot range ticks and labels are located as described
previously for the image box.
