system locks on converting graph

Studentversion 4.2,
SuseLinux 8.0
KDE

I generated a Plot,
right-clicked into it,
-> Cell -> Convertto
and tryed some of the conversions
when suddenly the only reaction of my system
was to mouse-MOVEMENTS .
Not even Cntrl-Alt-Del got me a reboot
of my machine,
I had to use the resetbutton.

That's not very nice.
