Message while printing

I am running Mathematica 4.2 on Red Hat Linux.  Each time I print a
notebook, the Messages window opens and a stream of messages like the
following are printed in it:

Front End Message  (9:36:34 on 3/3/03)
The child process 17212 reports:

I'd like to know what this messages means and how I can get rid of it.
