The new Control System Professional Suite from Wolfram Research,
makers of the Mathematica technical computing system, is an
extensible framework of tightly integrated Mathematica application
packages that offers an object-oriented environment for solving the
common control problems that arise in engineering, science,
economics, and finance. The suite provides a mechanism for getting
the latest advances in control theory to the people who can put them
to work.

The core of the suite is Control System Professional 2, whose more
than 150 functions allow users to link built-in control objects
together to model their own problems. The package is designed to
seamlessly handle both transfer-function and state-space objects in
the discrete time and continuous time domains. It allows users to
work with the familiar textbook form of control objects or easily
toggle their view to see the underlying Mathematica structures.
Mathematica technology provides users with symbolic simplification of
control objects, systems and equations, and a choice of programming
paradigms. A more detailed overview of Control System Professional 2
can be found at:
http://www.wolfram.com/news/csp2.html

The second component of the suite is Advanced Numerical Methods,
which was developed by Wolfram Research in collaboration with Biswa
Nath Datta, IEEE Fellow and Presidential Research Professor at
Northern Illinois University, and Dr. Daniil Sarkissian of
Mississippi State University. Advanced Numerical Methods offers a
variety of algorithms for each problem, enabling expert users to
choose the most appropriate tool for a given task. Given the system
data and the user's requirements for accuracy, the package can often
select a suitable method automatically. A more detailed overview of
the new features in Advanced Numerical Methods can be found at:
http://www.wolfram.com/news/anm.html

Wolfram Research continues to work closely with control researchers
to develop components, such as Advanced Numerical Methods, that
combine expert control methods with Mathematica technology.

Control System Professional Suite is designed for use with
Mathematica 4 or later and is available for Windows, Mac, Mac OS X,
and most Unix systems. Both System Professional 2 and Advanced
Numerical Methods can be purchased from Wolfram Research either as
individual application packages or as part of Control System
Professional Suite; however, Advanced Numerical Methods requires
Control System Professional 2. For more information about Control
System Professional Suite and its component packages, call
