Subject: [mg41645] [mg41519] Syntax Error in File

I have a notebook that Mathematica says is corrupted....when I try to
open
the file Mathematica comes back with the following message........

"There was a syntax error in the file being read...etc....if you click
OK
the file will be opened as a plain text file.......etc......"

I then click OK but the file is never opened...Mathematica hangs up each
time I try this.....anyway to recover this file at all???

I've asked once before....what in the world can the 'user' do to
corrupt his
files?

thanks....jerry blimbaum
