Solve[x=8A5 y+1, y][[1]]
 Give you


What you can do is
y./Solve[x==5 y+1,y][[1]]

this will give you just 1/5 (-1+X)  

this should do it.

i have used the FindRoot function and it returns an output:
{sd -> 10} say

how do i get the output to return it without the sd -> bit ?
