Whatever type of cell you are in (input or text), you can write superscripts
using Ctrl-6, and subscripts using Ctrl-"-" (i.e., Ctrl-dash). For example,
to get x^2 type x Ctrl-6 2, and to get x with subscript 2 type x Ctrl-dash
2.
